The Economic and Social Council is one of the six main organs of UN upon its establishment. ECOSOC focuses on economic, social and environmental issues through policy dialogues and recommendations in order to ensure the implementation of the development goals. Member states under this council are elected every year by the UN General Assembly and giving elected nations a three-year term in the seat. It works hand in hand with various stakeholders in wide arrays of field including more than 3000 non-governmental organizations.
